Hot start issue...head gasket???

what makes you think a third thread about the same issue is gonna get your questions asked?

FYI, people are alot less likely to help someone out that does stuff like this.

Been trying to nail this one down for a while.. I got an 89 22re, that starts and runs normally, until I shut it down after its gotten hot and restart it. After about 10 minutes of sitting after its been hot, it will stumble when started and stay at a low idle until you get on the gas a little... It doesn't stall or anything, but the oil light stays on a few extra seconds and the truck shakes, as if its barely got enough fuel or something.... I forgot to say, but the same thing happens when the A/C is on... The engine will stay running but it just shakes badly and idles between 400-500.... I have checked for vac leaks, and there are non.... Cold start injector is working fine.. Compression is 160-165 on all cylinders...I have new plugs, distributor, air cleaner... Ive been told to look at EGR, 02, and coolant temp sensor... Has anyone dealt with these symptoms before??? As I said its ONLY happens when the engine is started after its been sitting HOT for a few minutes, or when the a/c is on. Help me end this HORSE CRAP!
Thanks Guys....

By noticeable, the coolant level will drop and require periodic refill. If it doesn't, it isn't a leaking head gasket. Good compression also suggests she hasn't failed also.
Possible sticky valve but I don't think so. That normally demonstrates as a loud noise and big cloud of smoke if you keep running her that way. Bad valves stay bad, and compression is good so I would discount that.
Now the serious shaking can be simply from the low idle, most engines get unhappy when they are running too slow.
Mostly when hot? After a short cooldown period? Low idle speed, that clears up by blipping the throttle?
Doing a bit of a reach, it could be as simple as an air bubble trapped in the system. Picking up the idle speed draws coolant past the air pocket and the system then settles down. When cold, there is no effect so she runs normally.
This has been fairly common, we have gone so far as to install a bleeder valve in the high point of the heater hose, or start the engine cold with the radiator cap off, and the front end jacked up in the air. The air pocket clears and we add more coolant to completely fill the system.
Coolant air pockets can cause all sorts of driveability issues, so worth a try.. Worst that can happen is it doesn't help.
One note here. When an air pocket gets trapped in the system, it can create hot spots. This means pinging, hesitation, and failed head gaskets if a large enough bubble. I have seen some of these systems take nearly another two quarts after jacking up the front end. Then oddly, some don't take any at all?......*EB

just rev up the engine sounds like its just having a bit of miss fire... its not like your drivng miss daisy...
i got 236 on my truck.. not really sure about the engine... anymore.. but i have problems like that every once in a while.. and i just put my foot in the throttle and it will clear it up.
i say dont fix it until it wont run anymore... just put your foot on the gas pedal..
or tighten up your throttle cable.. to achive your low idle..
