Horrible mileage (22R)

I have the worst gas mileage I have ever heard of on a yota. I clocked it out to around 10ish. Its a 22r bored 40 over with about 6k on a new rebuild. I rebuilt the carb around the same time. It has gotten progressively worse over the last month or so and is starting to really piss me off. I can't seem to get a grasp on it. I know it HAS something to do with the carb. It runs rich no matter how I adjust it and has had a mean as hell backfire ever since I bought the damn thing. I figured rebuilding it would help, I was wrong. I figured that adjusting the air/fuel mixture would help, wrong again. I played with the timing and nothing really changed. I am almost at my wits end lol. I don't wanna buy a new carb because I am switching to a Weber when my buddy gets around to puttin the EFI stuff on his. I just don't wanna spend a whole $20 to go to work and back. Anyone have any ideas?

Wow that is atrocious! I suppose you adjusted the carb like this guy says is the right way? http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/ After I rebuilt mine I had a bad vacuum leak in the line to the mixture thing up by the air filter. It wudnt run right for nothing, smelled like you could light the exhaust. After I found the leak and fixed it, it ran like a charm.

I did follow that to the T. Best carb help I could really follow outside of the manual. I did find a few leaks, and I also found that my AAP has a leak somewhere. (fuel in the vac lines) So I ordered a new diaphragm from the stealership.
