So, after putting my hood on, I realized that it doesn't lock when its all the way down. The thing that you manually push to release works, but the device that is supposed to be released by the switch inside the car does nothing. Here is a picture:

Maybe you have to use a screwdriver and push the "main" latch back? Is the hood going in to the "main" latch or is it just hitting it?

 

Since you just rebuilt the front of your truck, you are going to have to figure it out on your own. It has something to do with the adjustment of the latch mechanism, and the aftermarket hood you put on. It will take a lot of massaging to fit correctly.

oiled and bent it and it still doesnt work...

 

Well there should be a little wire that goes from the inside to that little latch, you need to make sure the ball of the wire is stuck inside the device of the latch...
