Question Holy ˟˟˟˟˟,, my truck is making a noise that I have never heard going out of 4 into 2!

OK, Ive been using 4 wheel drive all day and clicked out of 4H into 2wd again this afternoon because the highway was dry... anyway my truck started making a winding, whirring stipping sound that came with some vibration! I turned the wheel a little and it went away but keeps coming back. I have no idea what this sound could be.. Any input? I dont use 4 wheel drive that often, I hope its not my front end or transfer case!!! I did a quick visual and there is some snow and ice around the CVs but I cant imagin that it would make this type of noise, and the fact that it seems to only come when I click out of 4 back into 2. Anyone???

Did you try unlocking the hubs?

Sounds like maybe the spindle bushing thing. Do a search on that, I haven't done mine yet. It makes the noise you described, or similar. Does it ever happen with the hubs unlocked? Sorry same ques.
