HO alternator question

I just purchased a 150A alternator from Mr. Alternator for my 4Runner. So far I am very pleased with it. I can already tell that it was worth the $204 because the lights don't dim when I try to roll the windows down, and the voltage meter doesn't move much.

I noticed when installing the alternator that there's an 80A fusible link labeled "ALT" in the fuse box. I pulled the box and saw that this wire goes directly to the positive terminal of the battery.

Should I upgrade this link to something higher to get the full potential from the alternator? Or should I not worry about it, considering that all of my auxiliary stuff bypasses that fusebox, and therefore the 80A link?

I would run an additional charge wire from the back of the alt to the battery. Your stock wire will probably melt if you where to put 150 amps through the 8 or 10 Ga wire. I ran a length of 4ga from my alt to my battery and placed a circuit breaker at the end closest to the battery.

When I installed my 160A alternator, I wired it right to the dual batteries then ran a wire from there up to the stock fuse box. That way all the original stuff is left alone and the dual batteries can power the winch, starter and other heavy loads.
