246k on the 90 3.0 and 238k on the 86 with the 22r. The 90s pretty tired but just getting that 86 broke in!

How many miles can I get out of a '96 T100 4x4

Helloo T100 people, I'm here !
Greetings from the Great State of Oregon..

I need an Opinion; How many miles can I get out of a '96 T100 4x4, currently 180 K on it, one owner, mostly 4 wheeling in the snow and ice, and taken good care of ?
I rebuilt the starter (contacts !) and had the regular things break...what is next? Hoses? I think 270 k is not unreasonable.
My wife is doubtful- Wants a new little 2x4 truck.. blah, yuck.

Give me info-ammo to blunt her attack on manly trucks.
I wonder if this attitude could have something to do with her scraping her knuckles while helping me change out the starter...

Thanks, Mike

201.xxx miles

1988 2WD 22R/G57 5 speed Deluxe. 201,xxx miles. Recently restored. Timing chain and valve stem seals done around 160.xxx. Lots of Junkyard upgrades. Turbo wheels, Bucket seats, clock, maplights, grab handle. Can't hardly pump gas w/o someone wanting to buy it.

Oh What a Feeling.... to own an old Yota !!!!

22R88 : Outstanding truck...

Thank you for giving me more evidence of what kindness and skill can do for a properly engineered older vehicle.

Mike.

95 4wd pickup...

My odo is at like 195k right now, but I have a loose ground on the back of the cluster for sure and it doesn't always work. It takes out the right turnsignal indicator too, so I just need to track it down. I have other problems to deal with first though...

Since I drive 60 miles a day for work, and it hasn't worked well for at least a couple months, I have to be damn close to 200k...

The truck has had a lot done to it, but I've only been the owner for about a year. It has a rear diff from a 1 ton, the front diff is blown up currently. I was redoing the rear brakes and noticed that the CV joints are definitely newer, really shiny. The exhaust is some janky all welded nastyness that needs replaced. It's been lifted and run into a tree at least once.

The damn thing is so muddy that I've been cleaning it like crazy and I'm still dragging big clots of mud out from every nook and cranny. But damn it does it run and drive good

jerry507-

sounds like you have a real off road, dirt monster there...but I bet it all gets solved.

So, do you happen to have a berzerk, annoying speedometer buzz/ rattle whine, cable- needs- oil coming from the speedo area, that used to happen when it was really cold, but now is happening any old time ?

I do. You think there is a tweek or work-around for it ? Does anyone know to this ?

96 T100 SR5 4x4, 180 K and has spent a lot of time buried under snow drifts while we were out back country skiing in Yosemite, though that probably has nothing to do with anything...happy trails

thank you- my confidence builds keep to my 96 T going WAY past 200 K...

But (!) have you ever had this speedo problem ? Someone must have, and then done something to fix it and keep their sanity.

i've got my eye out for a set of those turbo style aluminum wheels. do you think they make a difference in mpg or is it mostly cosmetic? just trying to justify the purchase haha. also, how much did you pay so i spot a good deal?

I didn't check but I don't think that there would be any difference in mileage. I wandered up on my Turbos at a Pullapart in Baton Rouge and got all 4 with tires for 100.00 bucks or so. They sell for alot more anywhere else. Usually 400 at least if in decent shape. I just lucked up as I knew about them but never thought that I would ever find em. I know where one more set is on a old Turbo Truck that is going to ruins but the owner won't sell as I wanted to buy the truck for parts. It is just sitting in his yard. Good luck and I'll keep my eyes open for you.

208,000 on my 92 22re second owner. Purchased in 2003 with 174k original clutch brakes and belts. No major mechanical work. New paint wheels and interior in 2012. Has an occasional idle issue especially when cold.
