High Beams shut lights off...

I have an 88 Pickup (22RE) and a few days ago all of my lights worked fine. The truck has a Fisher Speedcast plow on it and when the plow lights are turned on the truck lights shut off (as intended). However, now when I turn the truck lights on the High Beams shut the lights off. When the plow lights are on High Beam is actually low beam and low beam is High??? My rear driver's side blinker makes the back lights flicker when it is on. The passenger side seems fine though? Thoughts on what this could be and where to locate the actual issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

FYI when you turn your high beams on your low beams would normally go out, sounds like just your high beams are not working, check you fuses under you hood. Do you hear the relay come on when activating your high beams?

It also could be the multi function switch in the column. The contacts get dirty, or sometimes burn out. This is the switch that has the lights, cruise, blinlers and windshield wiper control. Its under the steering wheel, but not too hard to change out

Where specifically are the ground(s) for the headlights?

the grounds for the headlights route back to the relay's. when the lights go on what you are doing is grounding out the lights themselves. Toyota uses switched grounds at the headlights using a common 12V supply.

so basically there are two grounds but it's your regular wiring back to the relays and fuses in the fuse panel. These grounds are not "normal" chassis grounds.
