That will not be a good idea at all! That will crumple the sheet metal. Rock sliders and aftermarket bumpers are the ideal place for a Hi Lift jack point. I don't think there is a place that is safe or a good idea to use one on a truck with no sliders/bumpers.

Just a warning though, Hi Lifts are very dangerous if not used properly and with precaution. Make sure you have a strong footing when jacking, and never lift on concrete from the front or rear without wheel blocks.

you could mount it to the bed where it connects to the cab, or you might be able to mount it to the front bumper

Here is what I did. I have the 60" Hi Lift so it is pretty long, but it does not stick over the sides of the bed on either side. If you have a 48" it should fit on very nicely. The rack I used was the Hi Lift brand 4x Rack. I think thats what the name was lol

What many do too is mount it to the round bars on an aftermarket bumper.
I use Fourtrek mounts, and I have mine on the front bumper.

What about in an in-cab gun rack? Just don't EVER brake fast.

I just got a 60" hilift (birthday) myself. I was thinking of mounting it to my roll bar. I have yet to really see a good spot to mount a hi lift. Along the rail of the side of the bed looks okay though..

Although you can't really tell in this piture I mounted mine with the 4x4 (or 4xsomething) Hi-lift mounts. I pulled the insert out of the bed, marked the holes with the high lift attached so the studs would line up, drilled the holes and put some HUGE flat washers behind the insert on the bolts so they wouldn't pull through.

I'll try to get a better picture but I'll have to find a camera.

Mine's been floating around in the bed for so long, I really need to mount it. I like the bed bar idea or the front bumper hoops like Cory suggested. My taco bedside doesn't seem strong enough to hold the thing thru the bounding, I picture the sheet metal ripping like a wet paper towel

I didn't look at your signature before I posted that so I'm unsure if you have inserts or not. In my rig the insides of the bed unbolt and come out, I'm unsure why they are made that way but it makes it easy to clean out the gunk that build up in there. There are something like bolts that go through the insert into threaded tabs on the bed.

Maybe someone can post a picture of the inserts? If not I'll see if I can borrow a camera tomorrow if I get home at a decent hour and post one up for you.
