help with running hot

need help sorting this out .2.4l 5sp 4x4 new water pump radiator and thermostat, and new coolant. truck runs great with only 125k on it, problems is when driving hwy speeds after about 20min or so gauge starts creeping up,but will not go all the way to red but right at it.can control it alittle by turning on the heater....and when i stop the top radiator hose is so hard it feels like its gonna bust... need help with this dont want to burn it up

Sounds like an air bubble in the system.

Or, the radiator (though new) is not flowing well enough.

Btw, why did you replace all that stuff in the first place?

Make 1000% sure you got all the air out of the system. Jack up the front end, turn heater to hot and open the rad. Start the truck and run till its at its normal temp. Top up whatever it needs and go from there..

The fact that turning the heater on helps cool things suggests that coolant isn't flowing properly but that the water pump is working... normally would be a radiator issue but you've installed a new one, and a new water pump too... so may not the radiator: could be one (or both) of the lower radiator hoses have separated linings restricting flow from the radiator back to the engine / water pump.

Out of curiosity, the thermostat is a 190/195 rated one, right?

coundnt wait til tommorrow to try so put front up as high as i could and ran like yall said when reached op temp rad started bubbling up a little then it seemed it took a big gulp blew out some coolant and that was it .....I hope this is what yall were talking about burping system........will drive to work tommorrow and see what happens
