Help please.

So as of right now I have been bump starting my 4runner everywhere im going. Randomly the other day the starter, solenoid, ignition switch went out or I just have a bad connection somewhere. I'm not sure what to do right now. I turn the key and put the clutch in and im not getting an amp draw from my gauge on the dash but my stereo and everything else works if that helps. It seems like I can hear the click for the ignition switch but I don't know if it really is the switch or not. Pretty much I don't want to take apart my entire dash to replace the ignition switch for nothing. Its a 94 4runner 3.0 4wd. If anyone has had a situation like this and can guide me in someway i'd really appreciate it. I'm away from home right now for school and don't have access to any other cars besides my landcruiser which is dead right now too

Thanks everyone

-Joe

do you have one of those "alarm system" things with the weird looking key???

if so, put the key in because if you ever disconnect the battery or do any sort of work, the thing will reset and lock on you.

Tap your starter with a hammer.
Might need a rebuild and or new contacts.

P.S. In the future using a better title that is more specific than help please for your posts will yield you more responses.

It now works for some odd reason. I'm now working at Toyota and one of the mechanics said it is my starter most likely. Weird thing is I thought it was my ignition switch. So i pulled apart my dash and there are two different switch connection styles. I got it all apart while waiting for Kragen to open casue they had the part. Wasn't the right one. Put back together my dash at the house and the cars been fine since.........

I hope it doesn't start acting up when i'm in the snow or something like that you know????

Thanks guys,

-Joe

Replace your starter contacts or you are going to be stranded when you can least afford to be.

Do NOT buy a rebuilt starter, rebuild that one.

Hey, as a fellow detailer, I can attest to the fact that people will about anything for a good car cleaning

i no longer buy any of my parts from kragen or any of those places. only place i trust is myers auto parts... OEM parts for aftermarket prices. though i do plan on loading up on parts from the dealership, since desert dealerships.. toyota, dodge, chrysler, honda, BMW, etc, are having a special... dealership parts for aftermarket prices. id much rather trust a dealership item than kragen or anything... unless its small stuff like a filter.
