My buddy runs 33x12.50/20's toyo mudders on his tahoe... very. very. very. quiet.

When i was doing tires, i pulled a jeep out of the shop with 35" goodyears.... even backing out, i could hear them.

If you are looking for something that will get lots of mileage skip the yokahama MT's. I had a set that wore out on my 88 3.0 xtracab (rear locker) really quickly, not even 20K miles out of them. I would not recommend them. Just my 2cents.

Tire Report from Reno, NV------------ I got these at Les Shwab here and the price was good, $85.oo per tire I believe, and they are called Federal. I got mine in 30 x 9.50 x 15 cuz of the stock 7" rim size. They wouldn't put anything bigger on these rims. I know they come in 10.50 size cuz the guy said I needed 8" rims for that set. So far I like them, but I only have 1500 miles on them. They did good in the 2 trail runs I've used them on, you know the dirt and rocks we have out here.

My favorite tire for that size range (I have had Wild Country Radial RVT, ProComp MT's) would have to be the ProComp MT's. I have had them in the 31x10.5x15 and in my favorite 31x12.5x15 size. I bought a set in 2001 but got a tire slashed by a vandal and bought a new set in 2003. I recently sold them (all 7 of them) when I made the jump to 37" MTR's. For the price, longevity and performance I don't think that they can be beat. I like my MTR's but I don't think that they are worth $290 a tire (37x12.5x15)

Actually, the 31" tire option was only available from the factory on trucks with factory 4.88 gearing. Otherwise, the auto is over geared with 31's.

However, one needs to regear for the tires they wish to run if they want to uphold vehicle performance this is a moot point if the OP intends to regear the truck.

PRO COMP XTERRAINs all the way. i have nearly 15,000kms on mine and they are doing very well. muc better than the goodyear wrangler M/T that we have on the ford. they do great on ice and snow(as long as you dont floor it like some people do.). they are the best for mud! no contest! they do good in water and slippery roads(again dont floor it) but when it comes to slippery roads, its the same with any tire you buy, dont floor the pedal and you'll do ok.
