Help me identify my T-Case

I just purchased a 1989 4Runner SR5 V6 with a 5 speed transmission. From what I have read, I think I have the chain drive T-Case. Am I correct or do I have a gear drive?

I have a 1985 donor truck that I was going to pull axel, t-case, etc... I want to run dual cases, but want to know if I need to purchase another t-case or can I use the two I have.

Thanks

V6 has chain drive case

You need a V6 adapter to use the gear drive crawl box off the '85 and then an MC10 from Marlin Crawler to adapt the gear drive crawlbox to your chaindrive case. It is several hundred bucks cheaper to do it this way than to do dual geardrive cases.

I was going to do it this way, but found a used geardrive setup.

NOTE: before everyone chimes in and says the chaindrive case won't hold up...

- this case is behind the strongest tranny Toyota makes. Don't you think they would have used similar design requirements?

- chain drive cases are holding up just fine in MANY Tacomas (and even some Tundras) with dual cases (and in some cases superchargers) making a helluva lot more power than we're ever gonna dream about making in a 3.0.

You can find out when case with the information on Marlin's web site:
- http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/tra...ansfercase.htm

Not sure if there is an adapter for mating those two cases, if Marlin doesn't have one, try InchWOrm:
