My friend has a early 90's 5 sp. 4x4 pickup with a 3.0 that has 230,000 miles. It developed a bad miss last week, i told her it sounded like a bad exhaust valve which seems to be common on high mileage 3.0s. Turns out she snapped a valve spring in half. I thought she was lucky. It made the repair really easy. Also on the 4th of july she towed a camper and a atv to silver lake and back, she's lucky it didnt snap on the other side of the state. Has anyone heard of breaking valve springs often. Or is it more of a rare thing? Thanks, Brian

 

Mine had a broken valve spring when I bought it. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until the head was in the solvent tank.
