Help ! Knock sensor wire has broken plug
Hi,
I am in the process of tansfering all my old motor stuff to a rebuilt long block. I was carefully removing the knock sensor wire plug from the knock sensor on the block under the intake manifold and the part of the plug that holds to the knock sensor broke, so the plug won't click onto the sensor anymore. The plastic was very brittle as well as the shielding on the wire. So what do I do?
repair the plastic shielding on the wire and silicone the plug on or buy a new one? Will silicone even hold it on, I hate to chance it and have to pull the intake of after i put the motor back in. What does the new 10" wire with the plug on it cost from the dealer? Help!!!!!!!

Buy a new one. They are fairly inexpensive and you really should replace that wire any time you do major engine disassembly. It is just too much of a PITA to get to to leave it up to chance.
