Help identifying wires behind stereo area

I removed the dash from my truck to fix another issue, and stumbled across the previous owners fabulous wiring job, where he managed to butcher everything to install a stereo.

Can I get some help identifying where these wires should go? I THINK they will go to the cigarette lighter, and the light that illuminates the trim around the cigarette lighter, but if there were any plugs, they're gone...previous owner cut and spliced literally everything together.

Here's a pic for reference, along with the wiring diagram.

I think that the wires marked "1" should be hooked up to the cig lighter. I'm not great with wiring so the diagram is confusing to me. I do not see a solid green wire which would act as power as seen in the diagram, just this red/green wire which is apparently what's at the fuse for the cig lighter according to the diagram.

I traced the wire marked "2" (red/blk) all the way to the dimmer switch. So I think that this needs to be hooked up to the light that illuminates the trim around the cigarette lighter, but I can't find it in the schematic and I'm unsure if that would act as a ground or power. It's definitely not a hot wire, doesn't have constant 12v or switched/ignition 12v.

The rest of the wires are speaker wires. Not sure...confusing myself. Would anyone happen to have a picture of how theirs looks in an unmolested state?

Your schematic shows the R-B wire going to the rheostat ("dimmer switch") and then to ground. The schematic shows the cigarette lighter trim lamp gets its 12v on a G wire to the Tail fuse.

I can't find the cigarette lighter power on your diagram. In 1994, it was powered with GR-R, with W-B to ground. But you haven't told us your make/model/year/trim.

A picture of a rat's nest of wire is much less useful than you might think. With uncertain color balance, I'm not very successful at reading wire colors from your photo. If you have a wire you want to ask about, be sure to include the wire colors.

That was incredibly helpful actually, thank you! It’s an 88 Toyota pickup SR5, 22re 5spd, and I can get more pics and dive further into it this weekend.

also, I didn’t know that “icon” in the schematic meant it’s a lamp. Thank you so much Scope!

The lighter should be:
R-G power from fuse block(15 amp)
W-B Ground

the Up/Down switch for Power antenna (even if it never had power antenna the connector would be there)
R-G power from fuse
W-B ground
LG and LG-W to power antenna motor

my recommendation on the radio wiring is to get a repair kit. I got mine off Amazon and it’s very reasonable. The wiring color should match your harness, and it’ll get the factory connectors back. I still checked with a multi-meter as a precaution, but it was correct. The nice thing about having the factory plugs back is when I installed a Pioneer radio I got the wire adapter that let me plug the radio right in. No cutting or splicing.

Thanks everyone. Got it sorted. One of the reasons I was so confused is because the cig lighter and lamp were from a GM. Really confused me when looking at the wiring diagram.

i went to a junkyard and got the lighter and lamp from a 2nd gen 4Runner. Fit great and got the plugs with it too. No more spliced disaster!
