Help Identify This Part! Thanks..

Hi everyone..I dropped my trans and was replacing a bunch of things. While doing the rear main seal I noticed some dripping from this area, and I'm trying to figure out what this is called to I can fix it with the trans out. Its to the rear of the engine near the valve cover.

Thanks

"Cylinder Head Rear Cover" http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../7cylinder.pdf The gasket is probably 11182-35050 (check yourself); about $10.

You might get more informed responses if you identified what engine you're working on. If you give the year and other identifying information, someone might even be able to find the part you need. Just sayin'

I don't think replacing that will solve your oil leak, though. There's engine coolant circulating for the egr system behind the plate.
I'd look at the the 1/2 moon or valve cover gasket directly above..

I checked the half moon on the back of the valve cover, looked good (I bought a replacement kit anyway, I'll do that when I delete the EGR and do the hoses/tune up)

I guess my next question would be, if I delete the EGR all together, do I need to keep that plate on or should I get the LC Engineering blocking plate?

I don't think you actually need that particular block off plate to delete the EGR if you install the other two, but with it torn down to the extent you have it you might as well. I'm not an expert on this, but I'm pretty sure I still have the stock cooler plate on my carb'd 22r with the EGR deleted. Also there's some controversy about whether the EGR delete helps or hinders performance, particularly on the EFI engines. Those half moons are notorious leakers, maybe Toyota made them that way to make sure you adjust your valves regularly?
