Help with finding a thread
I replaced my water pump last week and broke a bolt on the timing cover when i was taking off the old pump. So it leaks alot and i need to replace the timing cover or somehow extract that broken bolt. I remember coming across a thread on here talking about replacing the timing chain with out removing the head and having to pull the motor. I knew I should have bookmarked when I first crossed it. Does anyone have a hyperlink to this thread or a similar thread.
Thanks
I've been looking everywhere for this thread, I've tried searching differents variants of the thread.

head to google and enter:
site:yotatech.com replace the timing chain without removing the head
I hit:

(this is from 2010, so may not be the one you're thinking of.)

not sure of the thread you're talking about, but taking the timing cover off you don't need to remove the head or pull the whole engine, sure it's a lot easier if you did, but no mandatory. you do have to set the engine at #1 TDC because you have to remove the distributor to get the top bolt.
got this pic off the interweb ^^^ mostly just for the location of the bolts you'll have to remove. also you'll have to take the bottom pully off as well to get it off, and the alternator bracket, if you can get your hands on an FSM or even a generic haynes repair manual, they're $20 and have a good sequence to talk it all apart. you'll have to change your oil and coolant again as well when doing this, because you'll be opening all the ports and the coolant will go straight down to your oil pan.
