Help! Exhuast Manifold/un known part related

Ok my dad had been driving my 94 22re truck around and noticed it getting really loud like a cracked exhaust manifold. I went and inspected it and near the collector on the exhaust manifold theres 2 bolt holes and a hole and that part is missing. Anyone know what that part is called? How much should I expect to pay for this part?

missing? like, a wide open hole is in the exhaust? the only real things that are close to as you described are;

1) the EGR valve tube; bolts to the exhaust manifold facing towards the fire-wall and pipes into the back of the head, and then over to the EGR valve on the intake

2) oxygen sensor; on my 91, there is only one sensor under the cab of the truck just before the cat and faces upwards. I think some of the laters models like yours may have two, in which case it will bolt right to the manifold as well sort of facing the driver's side inner fender.

that's pretty much the only things that will bolt to the exhaust it's self, so if it's not one of those two items, then I'm outta ideas...

got any pics?

I would also guess that is the mounting flange for the oxygen sensor. However according to the manual (for a '93) as iamsuperbleeder said it should be beneath the cab right before the cat. Perhaps there's a block off plate that cam loose.

Yep, O2 sensor hole, but yours may not even have one. You would see the sensor hanging down if the was one. If not, then you just have the one under the cab and just a blockoff plate goes there.

My new manifold came with the whole for one with a blockoff plate on it. You could probably make one just out of some 1/4" steel... or rob an old O2 sensor from a junkyard Toy; wont have to plug it obviously, but it'll block off the hole.

More than likely the bolts just vibrated loose; the constant heating and cooling causes the metal to expand and contract and will work the bolts loose over time; I keep having to go back and tighten the bolts on my blockoff plate there. Some thread lock may solve that problem if you can get some that will withstand the heat.

I bought one off eBay for my truck not long ago; brand new in the box, Bosch, number 15711, 40 usd! Was a good find; normally go for 100-120 usd.

a muffler shop should be able to make one up for you.

also, do you have the O2 sensor further down the pipe, in front of the catalytic converter?
