Question HELP Engine studder at 2500rpm after TB replacement

hi i just bought a 90 4runner 3vze 3.0 5spd and it has about 300,000 and 60,000 since last rebuild. i just replaced the timing belt and all went well, she drove fine for about 2 days then the engine started to studder at exactly 2500 rpm everytime. anyone have an idea where to start looking for a problem?

ok i just went to a service shop to hook the 4runner up to a computer and i ended up getting a tps code. now the mechanic was trying to say that it could be due to a fried ground strap on the motor but im second guessing that any thoughts?????

Knock sensor wire is a common failure point. It's about $7 but is a PITA to replace. If the TPS was removed at all, it will need to be re-adjusted.

nope i didnt touch teh tps but the muchanic got a diagnostics code from it also one from teh knock sensor. i read from another post about someone with a bad idle that the plastic connector for teh knock sensor was just corroded and dirty so he cleaned it and it ran fine. im gonna try that i hope i am that lucky. but also in searching for the knock sensor wire i also noticed that one of the injectors is leaking could this cause such a bad studder. after i clen the clip ill repost

ok so today i was in a rush so all i have done is i disconnected the tps, started it and it still had the studder/miss. so then i got some conduit cleaner and sprayed teh out of the connection for teh knock sensor wire, i let it dry for about 15 min and still teh same BS. im thinking its either the knock sensor or the wire

yeah the real kicker is that it started working fine for about 4 days then the studder came back. i think teh rain might have made a connection somewhere. im gonna try spraying the thing down with a hose

I'm jealous, not only do you have the best 4runner body style ever, your truck fixes itself!!!!!

(and then it breaks itself again)

sounds like you need to give it to me before it completely blows up on you

Sorry I'm no real help, I would assume that it has something to do with the codes your getting, time to start replacing parts (that's kinda why they have trouble codes)

It's usually pretty hard for people to diagnose stuff like this over the inter-web, unless you get lucky and someone has had the same exact problem, that is caused by the same exact thing, or it's something common that happens to everyone, I know that is what this site is for, but sometimes it can't solve everything, just point you in the right direction

i dun fixed it !!!!!!!!!! the problem was sooooooo simple.
i noticed by my firewall directly behind my motor was a ground strap, but not a normal one this was like a 14 gauge wire with a plastic disconnector in the middle. the locking part of the connector piece was broken so everytime i would hit a bump, curb, rock it would allow the connector to slide out just enough to disconnect. now with the rain issue since the wire was located on teh firewall the hood seam was directly above teh wire so when i started to rain out here im guessing it made teh connection. so long story short i removed the little wire they were using with a 6 gauge marine battery terminal $6.99( i think that will due lol ). ever since i have put the new cable in i havent had a single problem

P.S. dont ask the guys at autozone for a ground strap they will look at you crosseyed

i just checked the diagnosis and i got a code 52(knock sensor). can a bad knock sensor or wire be an intermitten problem? anyway to tell for sure if it is the knok sensor?(other than ripping it apart then testing it)
