Help diagnosing engine noise 22r
Gentlemen, I need your help diagnosing this noise. Has been happening for awhile ever since I got the truck back from having a new head put on. Don’t remember it making the noise before. I’m thinking either detonation or misaligned camshaft? Here’s a video of it. It’s a rattling noise at higher RPMs when I’m about to shift. In the video I start in first, then hold second so you can hear the noise, then shift to third.

Need a vid of the engine bay, idle and some light revs. Can be a lot of stuff. 
You also have a exhaust tick somewhere.
"could" be: chain tensioner, misadjusted valves, too tight rocker cover (easy to overtighten, lifters will make contact)

Little nervous about doing this since I don’t have a lot of experience, especially with engines. Is it simply just removing the cover and inspecting it, then putting it back on? I also don’t have a torque wrench in my possession but could borrow one.

Also a little more info if it helps. Truck starts perfectly fine and doesn’t cut out or die at all. Has loads of power too. Seems like the rattle is worse when the truck is warm as well. No over heating issues either.

Get a dowel rod about three foot long, put your ear on one end and start holding the other end on different locations on the engine, valve cover, etc till you find exactly where the tick is... then report back

Figured I'd update this since we figured it out. We finally had some free time to tear apart the front end, staring with the timing chain cover. Found a bolt on the cover was too long (not original) and was coming in contact with the timing chain. Thankfully there was very minimal damage as I barely drove the truck after it started making noise. Apparently the guy who worked on the truck at the shop I took it to had no idea what he was doing since he lost a bolt and put a wrong size one on. He also didn't put a new gasket on, which was the source of my oil leak. $12 gasket and a bolt I had laying around fixed all of my issues.

Mechanics get a bad reputation overall because of things like this, which is frustrating.
