I've got a 1986 Toyota Pickup and it has cruise control installed, though it might be aftermarket. It was on the truck when I bought it and has always been broken. I was wondering if someone has a similar system or can point me in the right direction on how to fix it. I have a couple of pictures below and can take more if needed. It's obviously broken where it should be installed somewhere/somehow around the driver side of the engine. Problem is I don't even know what it should look like installed so if there's a picture or video of a similar set up somewhere that would really help. This is the last thing I need to fix on this truck!
First pic: cable attached to what appears to be a bracket that should be mounted somewhere. Plastic piece to the right of the bolt mounting this cable to the bracket seems to be broken.
Second pic: cable is connected to the throttle body
Third pic: cruise control on the steering wheel. Feels a little loose but looks good other than that.
Fixing a 35-year-old aftermarket part (no longer produced since the Carter Administration) would be a challenge. Since you can easily get a new aftermarket cruise control
I hear you. Just don't have any more $$ to put into this truck especially since it's a "nice to have". I was hoping I could figure out how to fix what's already there but just don't know how it all supposed to look like when installed.
