help answer a few questions on newly acquired 94 4runner 4x4 auto

i recently purchased a 94 4runner 4x4 automatic with 183k miles, and the PO has done some upgrades that i am trying to familiarize myself with.

1. it looks like the shocks have been replaced with KYB gas adjust shocks, are these decent? worth keeping?

2. i cant tell if it has been lifted or not, it looks to me like it may have a 2" lift on it. what would be an easy way to tell

3. the front's have been switched to Warn manual locking hub's, it is my understanding this helps with gas milage and is better than the stock ADD. is this correct? anything i should know?

4. then i turn the key in the lock it can lock and unlock all the doors, but i did not get any kind of remote with the car. is there a key fob i can buy?

here are photos for an idea of what i am dealing with

1. Those shocks are typical all purpose shocks. It depends on what you're using the truck for, but they'll be fine for the road.

2. From your pics, I don't see a lift but an easy way to tell is look at the rear coil springs. If the lifted it, there will be a small spacer between the spring and frame.

3. First off, yes manual hubs are better on gas than ADD. They have many benefits over ADD, but from what I've read on these forums WARN hubs are garbage. I would find some stock AISIN hubs as they are VERY reliable!!

4. N/A

I run them on about all my rigs. They are good "budget" shocks IMO.

Agreed, looks stock height, but there may be a spacer or new springs in the back because those gen runners usually sag in the back.

I run Warn hubs and wheel them pretty good. They have been fine. I would rather run Aisin, they look better and only require 1/2 turn to lock, but that's minor stuff. As long as they work, I wouldn't mess with them. There will be little to no effect on gas mileage, however it will reduce some of the wear on CV boots. Stock CV boots are known to go 150k miles so really that's a moot point too.

Enjoy your new 4runner

looks like stock height to me....

About the warn hubs.... Make sure to check te nuts that hold them on from time to time, the warns have a habit of working themselves loose. Aisin would be the way to go....

The door lock is a nice thing about factory power locks. Try locking the doors with the key in the key in the off position. Instant unlock. Great for those oh@%#(% moments. After market alarms can easily hook into them.
