Help! 86 with new engine and temp problems

New to forum and 4runners. I picked up a nice 86 SR5 with blown motor. I ordered a motor from davezoffroadperformance. I took radiator to have it flushed and checked when I pulled old motor. Tried to do everything right from the start with new injectors pulleys alternator and electric fan system. Anyway the motor starts and runs great. At idle temp stays close to 195 mark. After I drive for 15 or 20 minutes temp will be up to 220 and still wanting to rise. I have tried to keep from getting to hot but I need some help. Tried new thermostat today and same problem. Need some help or ideas

I installed new temp gauge today. Still hot. Im going to order a dual stage thermostat. I drilled two 1/8" holes in thermostat to see if it made a change and it didn't help.
Thanks for the input

Water pump is new. I've tried to burp it several ways. Front end on curb with radiator cap off for several times. I saw lots of air come out

Does not sound like the common temp spike issue. Does it get hot when you are on the highway or freeway or just when you are not moving or in traffic?

Just reread original post and it said that the temp stays around 195 at Idle.
