Okay, so new to the forum to start things off. I replaced my motor about a month ago and ever since it has little to no acceleration in 5th and CEL comes on. When I downshift it goes away and have plenty acceleration. Hills absolutely kill me, and MPGs is down to about 17 now. I've searched but can't find exact problem. Hoping someone may know where to start?

How does the motor sound. Mine did this after rebuild but no cel. It turned out my #1 injector was not firing due to the connector being broken on the inside. You could hear a miss with mine. $6 dollars later and she runs great.

 

Motor sounds good, I can feel a bit of a miss in 4th gear but that's it

Sounds about normal to me!!

I would be glad to get around 17mpg I was closer to about 12mpg.

Your not dealing with a 500 horse power engine .

Have you read your code??

You replaced the engine ?? New rebuilt ?? used engine??

What other work was done??

I am sure you have all ready done a major tune up replacing the air and fuel filter as well .

 

Check the timing. I know if mine is too far behind then I don't have any power at all. Check the CEL and see what code its throwing at you. It also could be you're TPS.
