Heavy duty starter needed.

Can someone tell me where I can buy a heavy duty starter for a 93 Toyota 4x4 with a 23r engine. I am having problems with rebuilt starter only working for about six months. After the engine gets warm the starter turns very slow. This started after having the timing chain replaced, maybe just a coincidence, I don't know.

Sounds like a bad ground.

I would try to source one directly from Toyota if your having a problem with parts store starters, or bring one to a local auto/electrical shop and have them rewind it.

I might have to contact my local dealership. I wish I would have had the original rebuilt, live and learn

After two years of a bad connection to the negative battery terminal wire I have finally fixed the problem. Being blind and ignorant didn't help.

For those on this thread, I found that cold climate '87 trucks had at least two parts that were different: the starter and the muffler assembly. If you came to this thread looking for a [likely] stronger starter, look for the cold-weather version as a stock option.
