Heater Switch - No heat, I'm cold.

Well its in the high 20's here today but it dipped into the single digits this week and its hard to drink coffee on my way into work with mittens on.

Last week I had the temp slider on COLD, and when the windscreen cleared up, I went to slide it back to HOT. Well it kind of stuck, and when it broke free...well, it broke. Now it slides L and R with little resistance, but nothing happens - it's still stuck on the cold setting.

I took the necessary pieces of the dash off , and can see that the lever pivots back behind the dash a bit, and a 'plunger arm' on the left goes into a white 'switch' (blower switch??). That plunger still is intact, so whatever broke must be inside that white box.

Any idea what that plunger actuates? How to fix it? Should I just replace that white box/switch?

I have the FSM from and 88, but not too much info that I see about stuff like this.

I may be not reading this correctly but that should actuate the coolant bypass that is located high on the firewall on the motor side. Are you working on the 94 pickup in your sig or an 88?

Looks like this but hopefully in better condition. I recently grabbed a good one from a pick n pull for $5.

its the 94. Okay, I'll check that out, and may post up some pics because, although its dark in their, that part does not look familiar.

Took a few more things off: the HOT/COLD lever has (2) plunger arms. The one on the right simply snapped the 'hook' off where it attaches. You can't really see what is going in the pic, but it might be a PITA to fix, because it rotates so I cant epoxy it or carefully tack it. Maybe I'll get creative with some wire... Anyway I have heat now!
