Heater Problems

Hey,

95 runner 3vze...Air is blowing cold out of my front vents but rear seat heat is nice and hot..Burped the system two days ago and it worked a little but now is blowing cold again..cold on high and gets slightly warmer each time you turn the heat down..thermostat is new and temp gauge functions normal..I live in NY and its freezing please help lol

sounds like u have a blocked heater core. or it has a vacuum lock in it again.

rear heat doesnt use the same core as front heat? and ya being a 3vze i was worried about exhaust gases going into the coolant causing airlock

Do a pressure test on the system and see if it can hold pressure. Find an auto parts store in your area, they should have them.

If it holds pressure, then try and backflush out your main heater core. Don't put crazy amounts of pressure through it or you can blow a seal on the core.

Then burp it again and see what happens.

nope different heater cores. like snobbs said check pressure and then flush it out back wards, i was having about the same problem and just used garden hose and flushed it backwards and it works great now.

will do..i need to do a flush anyway but its so damn cold ive been putting it off..also have to fix the leaking/stripped valve cover bolt from the previous owner/idiot...thanks for the quick responses
