Stick with the sealed beams and save some money. It's like $5.00 for a headlight retail.

Sensible advice, BUT fix convoluted power path with conversion harness. Stock circuit is proven BAD. Ask me, Ask 4Crawler. Fixing that is most essential before any upgrade, especially if using higher wattage bulbs thab stock.

Oh i know it needs a harness. @space-junk installed conversion headlights on his 87 4Runner without a harness and stuff we haywire. I think his brake pedal was illuminating his interior/dash lights? I don't remember.

I just stick with the sealed beams. I live in the city. If I go anywhere that requires upgraded lighting, i just hunch over a little bit more to reach a switch that turns on all the LEDs on the front bumper.

brake pedal issue is not related to the head lights. the issue with the truck-lites was that the momentary high beams would work fine, but the full highbeam itself would just flicker very dimly. Conversion harness fixed it and now they work amazingly well. i wouldnt ever go back to sealed beam head lights. hands down best investment thusfar. especially since Doomy has pretty bad night sight due to her terrible eyesight; i consider this a mandatory safety upgrade. Also, we have never been flashed with these on low, but it sure gets peoples attention when i need to flash my highs at them!

You got links to the harness/headlights? i'd be interested in seeing how much everything was.

Huh. I've not had any issues with the harness that Mama Toyota gave mine. Are there lots of people having issues with the original harness with factory wattage lamps?

you probably havent noticed, but i can guarantee you that over time from corrosion and use, your headlights are getting dimmer. toyota ran power through the switch on the column and thats a looooooong convoluted path for the power to wind. Upgrading the circuits with relays to fire the lows and highs(drawing clean power directly off the battery) is a much more sensible option than having to rely on the stock harness to carry the load.

as for the setup i have, @MaK92-4RnR , its just a set of trucklites(i dont think theyre called that anymore?) and a 25 dollar conversion harness from amazon. they work amazingly well.

The $300.00 version or the $569.99 version?
