Headers - Exhaust name brands
I am getting ready to do an engine swap and I figured while the motor is out and accessable i would go ahead and add the headers before i put it in..
I have heard horror stories about trying to get cheap headers to fit (if they ever fit) I wanna side-step that by getting a good brand name and maybe learning from somebody elses mistakes
Also recomendations for header tube length/diameter - Wrap 'em or not - Cat converter - exhaust tube - mufflers

You'll hear a lot about the Pacesetter being crap and for the most part I agree. I just put in a rebuilt engine and added the pacesetter header. I'm not sure of the paint issue the main reason people don't like the Pacesetter or if the holes aren't quite lined up. For the price, I decided to give it a try. I took the paint off and then painted it with a high 2000 F paint and I installed after the engine was in. You might have a hard time getting the angles worked out, or maybe not. It just seemed like it would be easy installing after the engine went in. A load leveler would be super handy, which I did not have.
The other issue was the O2 sensor bolt threads. They were a different pitch and maybe even a different diameter than the studs on original exhaust. I drilled them out and used bolt and nuts (metric). The bolts that connect the short straight pipe from the header to the cat were not metric and the compression springs were too long. Had to grind off a rung of each spring. I also wonder what the hardness of the hardware was, seemed like crappy zinc-coated stuff for the average home-owner.
The mating surface to the head seemed straight and I have no leaks, but I haven't run the truck much. That's a common complaint about these.
In short, If I had the money I'd go with LCE with full kit all the way to the tailpipe. Since my time is somewhat cheap, fixing a few QA/QC issues and hoping that the steel in the header is sound, and no future leaks, I went with the Pacesetter. I'll report back in a year and see what happens. There are other folks on here that have had decent luck with them. Most people though go with a more expensive header.

LCE uses phrases like "direct fit" that I like alot..
$400.00 well... ouch...
maybe the direct fit makes the couple hundred extra bux worth it...

I have the LC engineering Direct fit, and it was just that, DIRECT Fit. Only had to remove the heat shield and snake the header in, worked perfectly, Pair that with a Borla cat back and hi-flow cat, sounds awesome and do feel an added gain on the low end power

I just swapped out my 21 year old NWOS tri-y's which always leaked since day 1 in 1993 for LCE Direct Fit. No leaks, a bit more power and deeper sound in the 21 year old Borla SS muffler.
