Hawse or Roller Fairlead?
Which is better to use with a winch cable, a hawse or roller fairlead? I have both of them and was wondering which I should use once I replace my cable!

I have no experience with the Hawse one, only the roller one on my ARB with a Warn XD 9000.
Also running Masterpull synthetic line.
I think it is a matter of what you like the best.
And are you using steel or synthetic?
The latter is much more safe in case it snaps, and also easier on your hands.

With steel cable, I perfer the roller, but with synthetic line, the Hawse fairlead works just fine. The advantages with the Hawse are lighter, less moving parts and doesn't protrude out as far. Switching out the roller + cable will net you a 30 lb savings in weight.......
Oh don't use the Hawse with cable, then switch to synthetic, the steel cable usually cuts grooves into the fairlead or makes the surface rough enough that it'll cut the line, unless you sand the surface smooth first.....
