Has anyone tried a 4.0 swap

I wonder if its possible to swap a 3.0 for a 4.0 my 2003 4runner has some serious guts for a 6cyl.My 95 could sure use a lil ummph when it comes to accelerating to get on the local highways.Any one try it?
Happy Trails
Rick

So your going to gut your perfectly good 03 and take its 4L and put it in your 95...is that what your asking..?

Sure A 4L swap has been done, And by A I mean, Ive seen/read/heard of 1...

3.4 swap is a much more popular swap..

But sure..anything is possible..

When I read the title at first, I thought you were talking about a Jeep 4.0...

I'm going to go and smack myself now, I'll be right back guys...

If I'm correct, I don't think he's asking if he should swap the 4.0 liter from his 2003 4Runner into his 95. What I think he's asking is if anyone has swapped that version of the 4.0 liter into a 95.

The short answer is, I believe, no becaue the 4.0 is too wide to fit into the 95. You would be best off swapping a 3.4 instead.

If you're gonna swap and want to stay Toyota, the two most viable options currently are the 3.4 and the 1UZFE V8 (which actually weighs LESS than the V6's)

Don't you have to lift the crap out of your truck to get a 1UZFE to fit? Plus don't you have to make custom motor mounts? I'm still really happy with my 3.4 and if you want a lil' more uuummmppphhh get super charger!

Ehh, I havent looked at cebby's swap thread in a reeeeaaallly long time, But his goin on 2 years now, just now getting his exhaust crossover and other little things done before itll be on the road...
I mean, It would be so sweet to have a 1uz....
v8 power baaayyybeeehh..
But think about it, If you supercharge your going to need fuel mods, which are a crapload...
So its all up to you..

Good point. Just seems like the 3.4 is so much more straight forward. I think the SC is an expensive option but hey if you can get 300 BHP out of a V6 it might be worth it.

That is one disturbing avatar man! I've read similar stuff. I think 240-250 is typical and yeah going with an independent fuel system and pulley/cams/pistons/etc you can get 300. Isn't Mt. Goats around 300+?

hey if my 3.0 goes again 4.0 just might go in my 95 4Runner

If my 4Runner 3.0engine goes again im seriously considering doing a 4.0 i love the 2nd gen body and my 95 sits higher and drives more like a 4wheel truck the 2003 drives like a car, also i might wanna level out and lift my2003 in the future as well
thnx

I've not dynoed mine. There was a guy (TRDOLDMAN) on TTORA that dynoed over 300 at the rear wheels. He was running a 2.0" pulley, 7th injector, TRD headers, water/meth injection and URD goodies.
