hard to start but runs great

i have a 22re that is hard to start when cold and harder to start after driving it and letting it sit for about 20 min, and when i jumper the fuel pump it starts perfect. what do you think this could be? I will check the afm tomorrow and how do you test the open circuit relay?

Today I turned the key on and opened the flap on afm and the fuel pump came on, so could this be the relay or what?

Could the coolant temp sensor have anything to do with this cause I checked the relay with a ohm meter and it seemed to be within spec

tonight i put in a new coolant temp sensor and didn't help and also i was wrong about it starting with the jumper on fuel pump, it doesn't start good. I also tried starting and manually opening the flap on the afm and that didn't help so i pulled a plug it had spark, so does anyone have any idea what to do next? this is really starting to bug me. there was also 2 codes 22 and 71
