got the softopper!

i've been wanting one of my ride but the $700 wasnt so pretty so i was going to wait a few months before getting it but the weather in SoCal has been so nice lately that i had to take off the hard top. i live in a small apt so storage for the hard top isnt so easy and i had to meneuver the hard top through my tiny apt and it was the biggest pain in the a$$! at that point i said im not going to take it off and on so im just going to bite the bullet and get the softopper. i got it yesterday and threw it on just in time for our weekend rain.

a few things - it looks great. i love it. the hardware shakes and rattles a little bit.

putting it on was the worst. i hate to be a complainer but the directions that came with were not helpful in the least bit. it took 3 hours and 3 people to get it on. trial and error the whole way through which is pretty miserable as the pieces lock in pretty tight so if you put it on wrong, you have to go take it apart and do it all over again. i had to get a friend on the phone who put one on before and he talked me through it. i was so annoyed and burnt out after it went on last night that i wasnt even excited about it. i was just annoyed. but when i saw it on this morning, that all changed and now back to being very excited about it.

anyways - here are some pics with it on. i know most of you guys have probably seen it before but just wanted to share.

btw - anyone have the same problem installing it? do you agree that the directions are pretty miserable? i hope i'm not the only one.

lol... i was going to try and do the same thing but it wasn't working for me either!

good effort KNou!

oh, top looks great.

i installed my topper by myself and needed a rubber mallet to persuade the metal bar around the cab to take shape

other than that it went on okay.

BUT, i have been told that i installed something backwards... can you please take a pic of the corner near the front doors?

my top fabric kinda folds in.

i'll try to get a pic later today.

thanks guys!

javendan - i thought the piece around the cab was a pain....that didnt compare to the rest of the assembly.

i'll take more pics later and once i have some more time, i'll look at the frame to see if i can tighten anything up to keep it from moving around while driving. after 3 hours...i was done with it and was just excited that it was up

Looks awesome KNou! I did a softtopper on my pickup and it kicks azz. If I had a 1st gen runner I would get one in a heartbeat.

Looks good man. I'm waiting on some color samples from bob at soft topper. I think I'm going to go with the black also. X2 when you get a chance post some pics of the inside.

Sweet. I've had mine for 2 summers now, Wish I had it longer. now I just take the hard top on/off at Memorial Day and Labor day, and run the softopper all summer. Love it.

I took your link apart and put this bold part in the IMG tags by itself
