Going nuts and need help...22re TPS?

So it all started because sometimes when down shifting to stop the idle stays revving then when the throttle is tapped it drops down to normal idle. So I got a TPS from junk yard and swapped out...not knowing about the adjustment part. The motor ran horrible with intake popping a couple times. I figured the replacement TPS was bad and put back in old one. Motor ran horrible.... moved TPS until it idled ok, but now realize that doesnt work.. Now I am trying to use a multimeter with motor off to adjust.. But the multimeter will increase in readings without even testing anything so dont think it works right. Im going by this link to adjust the TPS http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml

Basically if I hook a black and red connector to the IDL and E2 the reading on the 20 ohm setting on multimeter should be 2.3K with the sensor a little loose or shimmed .57mm? and so on with chart. Also this multimeter only goes to zero when connectors are touched...seems like this thing is junk? Any help with this will be.....helpful...Thanks.

i'm no expert but i just went through a similar problem. my trk ran great 99% of the time but 1% of the time had no throttle response at all except at WOT. the next time you cranked it , it was fine.

i searched this (and other forums) and everything tested fine but i finally got a code for the tps.

bought a new tps and installed/adjusted it exactly per specs in the ownersmanual. wouldnt idle at all, no power any time and totally un driveable.

frustrated, i unplugged the tps, adjusted the idle to 750 rpm and it has run perfect ever since.

everything on my trk tested perfect. it has no vacuum leaks, no bad wires, new fuel filter, plugs, wires, etc, timing perfect, fuel pressure perfect.

it dont cost a thing to unplug the tps and see how it runs. my cure probably wont work on your truck because there are so many things that can be wrong but in 2 minutes you can see if it helps or not. a few others on the net have unplugged their tps and have seen their trk run better.

wish you well. seems a lot of folks have problems with the toyota injection.
