Im looking into getting a set of new tires this spring since the tires that came with my truck are tiny pizza cutter winters, so im really interested to see your opinons. I was thinking of getting BFG A/T's but if they hydroplane then thats a no go. the roads are often wet around here.

Looks to me like the famed BFG isnt even in the top 5 even though its the most bought and driven.

 

if your gonna be in any mud don't get bfg a/t's, they are good in snow, ok in sand, but very good mileage, and $$$. i like the coopers ALOT more, before i bought the bfg's i've got about 200k miles on the bfg's, but i like the coopers much more.

Not sure if you are against the BFG's or not, but I think that tire rack may not be an accurate portrayal for someone on this site. Someone who comes to this site to find tires, I think, has a different motive that the copious amounts of folks going to tirerack to purchase a tire.

 

Well, if you've got a thing against hydroplaning, do NOT get Procomp Xterrains. I've got em, and you hydroplane like crazy. But I like hydroplaning. Nothin like doin three 360's through a busy intersection to get your heart pumping. Awesome tire otherwise. It's funny how things go in slow motion while you're spinning out. All you seem to thing about is "Man, this is gonna hurt if I get hit!" Then wavin at the people who were once right behind you but are now infront of you, yellin YEEHAW, jaming it in gear, and goin home to change yer britches.

 

tire rack does not do any off road test, that any wheeler could take to heart. their "deep snow" is 6" deep, where most of us are looking for as deep as we can find it, i'd say no less than 18" to constitute "deep"

 

I would stay away from Toyo Open Country A/T mine are trash and they only have 16k on them. They have lots of tread left, but they are out of round.


FYI I have had nothing but bad experinces with Les Scabby tire.

 

go with the wildcat txr or xrt doent remmeber exactly which i have but they are amazing slightly more agresive than the standard all terrain but they wear better than anythign i have had befor i have around 40,000 on my set with regualr whelling and they still have abotu 3/8 tread left.

it's got my vote. just put a set on a couple of months ago, and right off the bat they proved their worth in the high country. no highway hum, but sticks like glue on ice. chews through the white stuff. got 'em for around 525 total, installed.

 

No ones reccomended Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers!!!

I run 31x10.5 Mud rovers and my brother runs the 35x12.5 Mud rovers on his Ford F350. They wore quick on his f350 but so will any tire you smoke everytime you have a beer

I LOVE my tires. Cheaper than Schwab or BFG and I've put almost 30k on em so far and they still look new. Though my warranty is about up lol.

I had mine siped and they perform awesome on-road and never hydroplaned yet... Even 60 on the freeway in a rain storm, grips.

I had 30x9.5 Marshall mud terrains (?) i forget ... a mud terrain and those SUCKED. FYI.

Again, excellent tire for on and off-road. Very quiet, mine make NO noise at any speed.

 

forgot to mention i've driven these tires in every climate and terrain, rocks, gravel, sand, clay, mud, soupy mud, water, pavement, snow, ice, old snow, new snow. =)

They are OK on ICE, but any rear-wheel drive vehicle in 2wd with a light rear-end is gonna be "fun" on ice. Great in the snow, did well in the sand and definetly GREAT in the mud. They clean very well in mud aswell.
