Getting new tires
Hey guys,
Im getting new tires here in a couple days and I was just curious as to what are the best tires out there for the 4runner. gonna get the 31-10.5 size but debating on the BFgoodrich All Terrians or some other le shwab brand. Im on like a 500 budget and not in need of super swampers or big mud runners. Just a great tire with nice chuncky treads and or nice siping.
thanks for the advice guy

Dude, just saw a deal that would be right up your alley. 4wheelparts.com has a $50.00 off a set of 4 SuperSwampers, and all tires ship for $9.95 a piece.
You can get a full set of 31x10.5x15 SuperSwamper Trxus M/T Radials for $485.76
Trxus M/T Radial
Just thought I'd throw that out there

I would reccomend the Yokohama Geolander AT-S they are super quiet on the highway but get the job done off road every time. Or the Yokohama Geolander AT-II+ they are a little louder but are another great tire. I have them 2 4Runners and run both of those, and Yokohama has a 30 trial money back, so you can't go wrong.

Some of the most liked tires around here:
Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo
BFG All Terrain
Yokohama Geolander AT+II
All of these tires are great tires and do well in most all conditions.

swamp thing, he said he doesent want super swampers.
BFG A/T's are well liked here, and are a really common 4x4 tire.
If you go to tirerack.com you can read reviews, and ratings on pretty much every tire immaginable. Also doing a search here there are a bunch of similar threads about which tires people like.

Ahh I thought he meant he couldn't afford swampers and such on a budget of $500, and was like pfft, of course you can!
Well reguardless, 4wheelparts has a bunch of nice holiday sales goin on right now. Think all BFGoodrich, SuperSwampers, and Procomp tires are on sale. So even if you don't want M/T's, you can still save a few bucks by goin with one of those brand's A/T selection.

Before my runner was lifted, I was running BFG A/Ts as well, now its all about the Mud terrains. The A/Ts will last you probably four years if not a little more if you dont drive too crazy with them. Either way you cant go wrong with BFG!

I got the Geolandar AT+II's . They look sweet and I got mine for like 400 bucks, all four. 235/75/r15. I've taken them on hills I used to spin tires on and they don't even think of slipping. I like em alot. It finally snowed here recently and I drove home in 2wd the whole way without any question about how much traction I had or if I was going to slip.

Do a search on BFT A/T's.
There was a thread not too long ago on them.
A lot of people were reporting hydroplaning problems
with them.
My 4Runner ('95) came with BFG A/T's (31's) and
I have never in my life driven anything that
hydroplaned as badly as they did.
I'll never have 'em again.

personally never had any hydroplaning issues with my bfg's, but most AT tires aren't designed with the large path for water like a lot of all season street tires are.
