gettin another toyota. few ?s

so fellers my look for a DD toyota is over. my 95 is now gonna be a trail rig. a guy i knew bought this yota for a smokin price from a womans backyard. and now im goin to pick it up wednesday if nothin happens. i think its a 92?but anyways its a reg cab 22re 4wd automatic. AC, vinyl floors and seats. (never seen one like this in my life). it has 74k original miles!!!! gettin it for $1200. which i think is a smokin deal. frame has surface rust, and he said a small pin hole under the cab, but i never seen it. needs a muffler, and the rear end leaks. my question is, woudl this truck have 4.10s? im hopin it does so the 3rd can be replaced for cheap. the diff is leakin from the front of the diff? also the lower control arms are a little rough and will need replaced soon. i asked hime the gear code after i left and forgot to look, and he said it said 383. i looked it up and that means 3.42. im thinkin he looked at the wrong thing. idt a 4cyl auto woudl have 3.42s. andybody know what the ratio may be?

Dont see many single cab auto 4wds. Looks pretty nice.

The leak on the front of the diff is going to be the pinion seal.

Probably will have 4.10 or 4.30 gear ratio (G292 or G282).

went ahead and bought it today. truck runs great. turns out the diff is not leaking. its the brakes. ive NEVER messed with breaks, so bear with me as i try to explain it. on the pass side of the rear axle, theres a little thingy ma jig that has a screw on it that you adjust. the fluid is coming out of where the screw goes. does it just need adjusting? its leakin massivley bad and teh brakes are to the floor. ill see if i can find a pic

it sounds like the wheel cylinder is bad (leaking)... just go replace the thing... it's cheap... you'd want to get new brake shoes also as all that fluid is probably soaked into the linings

Looks like some kind of LSPV. Or the PO took out the LSPV...

i dont think anythings been removed, and teh LSPV is still there on the other side. its jsut a small T that splits teh brake lines to each tire. dealship didnt understand what i was talkin about

moved to 86-94 folder...it is OK to edit your post if you have another thought

The LSPV would have a level going down to the axle. I don't see that. It looks like someone ran the brake line down to the 'T"
the LSPV would be mounted on the right side of the frame and lever going down to a point on the axle. Unless someone has zip tied the lever up to the frame (you will see it between the shock mount and spare tire), if so that is creating bias to the back like the truck is fully loaded.

If that lever is totally missing, make sure you have some kind of proportioning valve some where or more than likely the rear brakes are worthless right now...does it nose dive a lot when you come to a stop??

edit:

if they had no clue about what an LSPV should be, find another dealership

probably nothing more than a brake distribution block... a "tee" if you want to think of it like that... I'd replace it and if the fittings on the lines are bad, get the fixed too

thanks OC for moving my thread back. i shoudl have clarified, but the pic is one i got off of the internet, my truck still has teh LSPV attached. the T that i drew an arrow to, its spittin brake fluid out of on the left side of it, the side closet to the 3rd. its the splitter that splits teh brake lines to go to each back tire.

no teh truck doesnt nose dive at all, the brakes work fine, you just have to push teh pedal down further to get the to work, and the are still strong

please take a pic of the leak and an overall shot of the rear end so you can "point" it out again... using someone's pic with the lack of LSPV is confusing and adds too much ambiguity

if what you're really saying is the distribution block leaking, then just replace the thing! pretty much no brainer what's leaking IMO

thanks for being smart about what you just said. if you would have looked at the post i made, you would have seen where i said can i just adjust it, or replace it. it was such a no brainer the T was leaking correct?, but it wasn't. the flair was broke off the brake line. no brainer right? thanks for your help OC
