Gas in oil???

I checked my oil the other day and noticed it was real thin and smelt like gas, its not my rings, the diaphragm busted in my mechanical fuel pump. I ordered a new one and it came in today. My question is, do all mechanical fuel pumps require the 1/4 inch spacer gasket? Because it notes on the instructions if it doesn't have it, it can overwork itself and cause pump failure. But my older 22r didn't have one on it?

Yes all of them need that spacer. As far as I know anyway.

20r = 1975? to 1980

22r= 1981, 82, 83 and then optional up untill 1995.5

and yes, spacer is pretty much manditory

i know 100% it was a 22r..it was converted from a 20r. Are you sure about a spacer being manditory? Cause my 80' model did not have one and ran fine

I am 100% sure now that all need the isolator. Including at least the 79-80 20R.

I woulnd't block it off if running the aisin carb, weber it's ok as long as your running a regulator at 3.5-4 psi. Which is how I have mine set up, however, it does make the fuel pump work more and it also makes it louder. I've been running mine that way for almost 15K now without any issues that I can see.
