Gas Gauge Stuck On FULL???

After a day of installing stuff and running wires I noticed on the way to work today my gas gauge is stuck on full.

It would be nice if there was still gas in the tank, but I have almost 100 miles on the trip odometer.

I have no idea at all what could cause this. It happened once on my 92 4Runner, I beat the crap out of the dashboard and it worked again

Anyway, what could cause this, how can I troubleshoot it and fix it.
I know I can use the odometer, but I want it to work.

Also, could it be related to this?

Any help is greatly appriciated.
Thanks!

Woulda been a lot more convenient if you had just put both questions in the same post, especially since common sense would tell you they are probably linked - your first sentence contains the answer. Somewhere you unplugged a plug would be my guess, or you managed to cut a couple of wires, something like that. Try to think about anything you did or anwhere you were working where those two circuits might both be (like under the dash or along the pass side frame rail or whatever.) Consulting the FSM might be helpfull. Could you have pulled a harness so a plug came loose, or mashed a couple wires when you bolted something together, etc.

In fact you might double check the fuse lists, maybe there is something common that a blown fuse can explain.

Well, I have had the gas gauge thing happen to me before on my 92 4Runner, for no apparant reason whatsoever so I figured they may be a quirk.

I'm going to pull the dash today and see what I can see I suppose.

Does anyonre know where the wire that carries the fuel gauge sender info runs to/from?

And if somebody else with a 95 could check the under dash fuse pannel. Does yours have a label for a 15 amp rear ABS fuse, a plastic slot for an ATO blade fuse in the labels indiicated location but no metal contacts in the slot and NO fuse to begin with?

Thanks Guys!

I got it fixed. Turns out I inadvertantly put a sheetmetal screw right through a bundle of wires under the carpet beneath the drivers seat while mounting some equipment. I removed the screw, repaired the wires and re-mounted the equipment. Everything is fine now.

Be careful when screwing into carpet guys, it hides important stuff in dumb locations.
