Thumbs down Full floating axle lube

I have a 90 Toy truck with the full floating 1 ton rear axle. I had the axle repaired. I recently saw oil coming from the outer bearing housing. I thought that the outer bearings were greased and isolated from the axle oil by seals. My mechanic sayd that they are lubed by the axle oil.

Help, I am loosing my mind. The diagram I have shows bearing seals. Which is it?

Thanks,
George in Oregon

Hmm. On my non-toy FF axle. The bearings are lubed buy gear oil. The oil seal keeps it all in.

Edit: post your diagram.
