Since you don`t mention if it is a Pick up or a 4Runner

Then you don`t mention what part of the world you live in.

the worse part is when you break the fittings on the fuel pump bracket or the bracket .

Also removing the bracket can be interesting in itself.

On the Pickups the tank needs to be dropped, or the bed removed. Make sure you have a good set of flare wrenches. Rusty tank mount bolts might hold you up a bit. They are in a convenient place to drill out if need be. Just drill it out, replace with any bolt and nut.

Watch the rear wiring if you lift the bed. Soak your fastening hardware with WD or similar before you start

my 87 4 runner may have a bad fuel pump. how can i isolate the problem? 4 runner runs great, but intermittently sputters when going thru gears.problem is getting worse.
