I have a 1990 Toyota pick up 22re Deluxe cab. not getting power to the fuel pump:fuel pump is working I can bypass the fuel pump relay and it runs..I have tried many fuel pump relays'.. I took one apart ...its not clinking over to send power to the fuel pump... I replace the fuel pump the sending unit ,gas tank fuel level unit...new fuel lines....new COR
I'm at a lost!!!! I don't want to go hunting n be suck in the woods

The 1990 Toyota pickup does not have a "fuel pump relay." http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...38circuito.pdf

If your thumbnail #1 shows the location where you removed a relay, that's the starter relay. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../2powersou.pdf (at least according to the manual.)

How did you "bypass" the (non-existent) fuel pump relay? If you did it the easy way, you jumpered FP to B+, and that confirms the EFI relay is working. And that your problem is in the COR VAF circuit. When you replaced the COR, did you try to confirm that it's bad (the check procedure is in the manual)? Did you use a multimeter to confirm the STA signal and the VAF signal are both reaching the COR? Did you use that same multimeter to confirm that the switched contacts of the COR are actually connected to the fuel pump?

You have an electrical problem; you find the problem (to fix it) with a multimeter. You can replace an AWFUL lot of parts on guess-and-by-golly before you'll accidentally run across the problem.

Sorry guys new to forum...n posting from a cell phone...I checked the COR relay with omh meter with Haynes toyota pickup manual decided to get another one just if I was wrong.if that is a starter relay then the manual is wrong...it states EFI on the engine fuse cover...its a 1990 i'm on my third yota truck ...1987... 1994. 1990..it runs when I do this!!!! (The pic)(just a fyi)I replaced the sending unit gas tank n all that stuff because the tank had to much rust in it...

Omg¡!!!!!!!!!!!!7.5 fuse is blown ...aka(ignition fuse) if scope103 diagram is rt then that's my problem... n I will feel like a idiot..going to replace tomorrow will keep you posted ..smh

Not to add confusion, but there is a "fuel pump" relay factory installed in my 92 4runner, even though it doesn't control the fuel pump. It's under the driver side dash and says "fuel pump" on the side. How do I know it doesn't actually control the fuel pump? Well for one the wiring diagrams all point out that there is no such beast, and I also disconnected it to see if it actually did control the fuel pump and it started up just fine.

Ok so that does sound pretty confusing. Just to emphasize again, there is no relay wired into the fuel pump circuit!

Cool! But what does it control? The ADD control relay is over there, and since it's a fairly vanilla relay could someone have just put in a relay "labeled" fuel pump?

Do you thing it was not working because a fuse was blown and you never checked the voltage ??

Perhaps in a move to improve the economy we should all just keep replacing parts to we get lucky and get the correct one.

Issue solve... it was the fuse..at least if I blow that fuse I will know how bypass it...Thanks guys
