I have a '91 Toyota Pickup with a 22re. I am tryin to figure out if I am getting power to my fuel pump or not. My question is.. is there power going to my fuel pump all the time?? or just when i first turn on the key?? or just when im cranking over the engine?? thanks alot..

Turn the key to the on position, you should hear a faint click for 2 seconds-you hear nothing the pump is bad. Go smack the tank and see if she starts up then and go to a shop pronto.

The fuel pump gets its signal from the Circuit Opening Relay, which sits just above the ECM. The Circuit Opening Relay has two sets of coils which operate one contact. When the ignition is turned to start, the first coil closes the contact to power the fuel pump. Once the engine starts, the Volume Airflow Sensor sends a signal to the second coil in the relay. This coil keeps the fuel pump going while the engine is running.
The only way to get the fuel pump to run without the engine running is to put a jumper wire on the terminals +B and Fp of the DLC1 connector in the engine bay and turn the ignition to on.
