Fuel pump mounting bracket

I am looking for the brass electrical connector/insulator that goes thru the top of the fuel pump mounting bracket...the plastic insulator is broken, and shorting out the + wire to ground.

Does any one know where I could purchase a new brass electrical connector/insulator that goes thru the top fuel pump mounting bracket ?

The positive wire for the fuel pump gets attached to this brass connector/insulator.

Go on ebay and buy the whole unit. I have not seen any of those bulkhead electrical connctors. If you broke a fuel that I have the fix for, but not that. Try a junkyard?

This sending unit is only 2 years old that is in there now....the first one lasted over 20 yrs before rotting away.....the plastic insulator cracked, and the brass shorted out to the side of the hole.

I may try this....it is small enough to fit the factory hole on the top plate of the pump bracket....I just need to find some small o-rings that can handle the gas to seal it off.

Let that soak in gas overnight.. I have a feeling it will soften up and fail.

How about a wooden dowel? Drill a hole down the center for the wire, and then lots of epoxy to hold the whole affair together? Could even carve one from a piece of maple, or other hardwood.

I was going to try that..but use a piece of small fuel line as the insulator, and run the wire up thru the fuel line and epoxy all around the insulator/fuel line.

I was just worried if the wire would wick up the fuel into the wire ?

I figured with the threaded connection of the fitting above , it would stop any wicking action that possibly would occur, and go no further then the top of the pump bracket.

Get a used or new one .

I have tried every way you can think of .It is the way the insulator is held into the bracket if you can make one to the same dimensions it might work.
Then you have the problem the electrical connector is what holds the two plastic parts together.

This is looking at one I have here.

The pressure in the tank will force the fuel out..

If you have ethanol in your gas it is even worse.

Because it is in such poor place to access .I have just found fix it right the first time and be done.

Then maybe your luck is better
