Fuel pump?
My 1986 daily ride won't start after the engine sits for several hours. It is a 22R and has a carberator, also has a machanical fuel pump.
The choke looks to be working, it is closed when I check it.
The truck starts right up when I give it a shot of starting spray.
I am assuming the fuel pump is allowing the fuel to leak back? And it is the problem, if no one comes up with anything better I'm going to try and get one put in this week, Auto Zone has them for $40.
Has anyone had this problem before and this cured it?
The butterfly on the passanger side is closed when I check, but not completely, how much play is there? Maybe I should try blocking it with my hand to make sure that is not it?
Thanks

it might be the accelerator pump , it might be plugged or have a hole in it. look down the carb. throat and work the throttle. with motor off. there should be stream off gas each time you move the throttle.if not remove the acc. pump and check for gas and look for pin holes in the diaphragm. also check to see if there is fuel visible in the site glass before you start.

1) Can you still get a rebuild kit for these carbs?
2) Would the kit have a new diaphragm for the acc. pump?

Replaced the accl. pump, ajusted the mixture and set the high idle down a bit.
This morning it started on it's own! It was 36F outside, before it wouldn't start at 50!
Looks like I might have helped my gas milage out a little also.
