i cant seem to find my fuel filter on my yota , can someone help me where i can locate it. my toyota is 93 model with 22r-e engine. 4wd.

 

Under the intake, bolted to the block pass side.

 

where exactly is the intake? sorry, but im a newbie to cars...

 

its on the passeneger side of the truck. If you take you tire off you can see it.

 

You dont need to take the tire off.

If you don't know where the intake is.....you need to stop, set the wrench down, and step away from the truck.

Then go educate yourself on how an internal combustion engine works, and what an intake manifold would look like.

The intake is a 2 piece design, aluminum in flavor, and mounted to the pass side of the engine. It will have "EFI" cast into the upper intake plenum.

im sorry if i have lots of question regarding my yota 22r-e, i live here in the philippines and this truck is not available locally. i just bought this truck from my friend who got it from philippine customs.. local dealers dont entertain my truck because because they need to protect the local units.

 

I have no clue what the part number is. Is there any auto part store nearby or maybe wal-mart? Or something like that?

factory sez its a lifetime fuel filter but most people change them

i got mine at candian tire which is a store in canada for about 10 bucks...
it was in such a weird spot i never did it...i figure next time i drop the starter i will as they are both crammed in there!!

You know what.... I just came back from the philippines and never saw any type of parts stores. Are you stuck with dealerships? I figure they would just back flow the filter and call it clean lol.

 

Toyota's are pick-up's, a real truck IMO has a GVW of 10,000lbs or higher

I'll have to agree with DeathCougar on this one...

If in fact you do have a Toyota dealership locally, see how much they would charge just to replace it there for you. Otherwise if you go the route of doing it yourself, it is NOT a fun thing to do. I changed mine about 10000 miles ago when I took my manifold off; which I don't recommend doing either because that alone is a very involved 6-7 hour process, but I had other issues that had to be delt with; the fuel filter change was just thrown in.


In the picture posted above, the hole top of the motor is actually removed, so under your hood will look nothing like that picture; it's almost invisable looking under the hood.

Look in your passenger side wheel-well. There's a little panel staight up above where the tire mounts that is held in place with 4 bolts. If you take those bolts off (a ratchet and 10mm socket), look in and up a little bit to the left, you'll see it in there; has one line bolted to the back of it facing the firewall, and one line bolted to it facing towards the front of the truck; and bolts directly to the engine block with 2 bolts.

Shorty story is it's easy to explain and look at pictures about how to do it, but it's a tough thing to do, bottom line.

well, I this was the first and only time I ever messed with it, plus if you saw the thread I started about the thing, you'd see how dirty everything was. Half the time was put into cleaning the manifold and everything that goes on it...

I could probably do it much faster now, but for someone who's never touched a 22re before, much less doesn't even know what the intake manifold looks like, that's how much time I would set aside for the project, maybe even more time than that...
