Front wheel bearing, adjustment or replace?
Hi Guys
Put my 4runner onto the ramp yesterday after i had my rear anti roll bar snap on me, so fixed that and thought i'd give her a good once over....found i need new front drop link bushings and my front wheel bearings are waaaay out....time was'nt on my side so i didnt strip off the wheels etc but how does it work, is it adjustable or is it a matter of replacing them?
Cheers Lads

Both. Your problem is that the bearing preload is way off. But by now the bearings may be trashed, and if not, there's no point taking it apart without replacing them. There's an inner and outer on each wheel, and they can be had for less than $10 each.
Read the FSM first. You'll need a big socket to adjust the wheel nut, and you might need a small spring scale to hit the very tiny torque value. (can you do it with a chisel to get the nut off, and then tighten it by feel? Uh, no.)

i cant find a socket anywhere in my town so i resort to the feel test. i know its not the right way. i tighten the wheel nut down with a chisel with the tire on then i test if the tire has play

Either order a socket from TG or wabfab.
OR do what I did and take some 2.5" exhuast tubing and make a socket....
