Front turn signal problem

Neither of my front turn signals are blinking even though the back ones are. I replaced both of the bulbs in the front. The bulbs work and light up when the headlights are on, just not for the turn signals. The left signal has the correct cadence but the right is faster than normal. I checked the fuses under the hood and everything looks good. Is there another fuse box somewhere? My inspection was due last month so I'm scrambling to get this fixed now! Any ideas??

Sounds simple but did you check the REAR bulbs too?

I didn't visually inspect the rear bulbs for discoloration, but they do blink when the turn signal is applied.

take out the bulbs and clean the sockets and see if that helps

The front bulbs? I don't understand what that would do because I verified their operation by turning on the headlights. If there was corrosion/bad curcuit, then they wouldn't turn on during headlight operation either, yet they do. Is there a fuse thats responsible for just turn signals in the front and and not headlights?

I got a 90 4runner and the parking lights and turn signals are 2 different lights, but I don't know if they changed that from 88 to 90. My parking lights are right below the headlights and the TS's are on the bumper.

ok i have an 89 and my parking lights are the same as my corner lights. they can be turned on alone(parking lights) or can be turned on with the headlights (turn the light switch twice) my turn signals are mounted on my bumper and face foward. they only turn on when my turn signal is on and they shine at the same time as my rear. is this your same set up???

I just went out and looked again :pat: Boy do I feel like a moron... this entire time I was messing with the parking light thinking it was the turn signal, which would explain why the bulb that I took out didn't match what the book said I needed in the parts store. Problem solved and the truck is whole again. Thanks for pointing me to what was staring me in the face the entire time. Ugh.
