Hey guys,
Here's the issue, I keep getting my front shocks all scarred up somehow. The keep getting deep gouges down them from the bump stop mount on the body. The 4 runner has a 4" super lift on it. I have those cheap ass bump stop extenders installed. I have ground down both the extenders and the chassis mounted stop. This will be the fourth time I have replaced the shocks these only lasted about 1 yr this time. My torsion are adjusted to the correct ride height and pretty much neutral. I'm at a loss as to what else could be causing this. Other than something is severely tweaked. Anyone else have this issue ? and if so what have you done to fix and or suppress it a little. Thanks.

Gonna need pics. I had this problem originally but once I ground down the mounts and took it to a frame alignment shop, it was good. Youll have to jack up the front and see where things droop. There's a really good write up on doing front end alignment as well. After a bracket lift goes on, you'll have to go to a frame alignment shop. The locally tire&wheel guys probably only adjusted the TRE's..... You have to actually adjust the lower a-arms.

BigBluePile, thanks. The aligment has been done less than a month ago. and I've checked the droop. Im sure its something simple as setting things back a 1/4 of an inch...or I've just totally tweaked the entire system up there.

Geezus. Ya that's way too close

Youll need to grind more off I think...Definitely need to adjust those a-arms

I retract my guess of earlier due to visual evidence.

A-arms are totally off of the verticle plane. I don't think adjusting the a-arms could bring it in what you would need. Is the frame bent in any way?

Wow. Looks like you either need to mount the shocks or the bumpstops somewhere else. Probably easier to move the bumpstops

Its not the bumpstops, its the a-arms......because that's where the shock mounts....to the lower a-arm...

In terms of adjusting them out laterally I don't think the camber bolt has enough play. This rig hasn't been wheeled very hard since I have owned it. Willing to give it a try though. Obviously something is not rite. Just having a hard time figuring it out. Will let y'all know what the outcome is. Thanks.

The bolts should turn 360* to adjust the position of the arms.

Looks to me like the bumpstop bracket is hitting the shock tube.
Re-locating them is a better option than throwing the alignment out of whack. You can't just start moving the control arms to wherever you want them and not expect other bad things to happen as a result. If the alignmet is set, and you are happy with the way it rides, and the tire wear, leave the control arrms alone.

What do you mean no? I realize that pulling the lower control arm out may give enough clearance. But thats not what that adjustment is for. Its for camber and caster.

Maybe you can afford new tires every couple months, but I cant
