front end problem

i have a 1993 4runner five speed 4wheel drive. one day when i pulled my boat out of the water in 4low i noticed a clicking noise. it was coming from the right side and i figured that my cv axle had gone out. so a couple weeks went by and it was the last thing on my mind and i went to use my 4wheel drive again. this time it was more of a clunking sound and when i went to turn it became i very violent clunking banging shake my whole truck sound. so i went out and bought a new cv and my friend and i replaced it with no better results. it is only in 4wheel drive and i have automatic locking hubbs, but ive noticed that when im driving its a small clunk that is very unnoticeable but once i let off the gas or i turn it becomes very violent. so im thinking its my front differentials or something. im stuck and have no idea what to do. so im asking for help for anyone that has had a similiar problem or know whats wrong.

If you have manual hubs perhaps one of them stuck.
Wheel bearing gone bad.

Is it only in 4WD?
